Breastfeeding Makes You Fat

Although, I have had some hurdles, I have been incredibly lucky to nurse my son into toddlerhood and I hope to do the same with my new little one.  One of the great perks of breastfeeding is that it can help you to lose the baby weight, but  this does not hold true for all.  I, unfortunately,  am one of the  unlucky ones that nursing makes me bigger instead of smaller. For starts, breastfeeding makes me hungry, real hungry!   By all means it sucks, but I know I should not be complaining because  that extra weight I’m holding on to is helping to feed my baby. This also happened with my first, and as soon as I started weaning the weight melted right off. It is just discouraging that right now the last 20 pounds are not budging!

I  know in general I am a very health person and I eat very well.  However, I know I’ve really been lacking in the exercise department.  It is pretty much impossible to get a shower with a four-month old and a five-year old let alone find time to exercise. But I realized I really need to step it up instead of complaining. I need to step it up because I know how good exercising makes me feel.  But, I really need to figure out how to make the time!

I used to love running. The last time I  ran was right before I got pregnant– umm, that means it’s been a little over a year!!  Today I decided to sign up for a 5-K on  May 18th.  This hopefully will give me the motivation to make the time. Since I’m all  signed up and shelled out the money  I now have to start running, no excuses.

How do you fit in exercise with kids???

  1. Boo – that is a bit discouraging, but I am sure if you CAN try to fit in some exercises then it’ll help – WISH I could tell you how to do that THOUGH!

I found that when I had planned exercise days and got a babysitter {also known as Grandma’s free babysitting}, I was more apt to stick with it. I also try to work in some dance sessions during the day with my girls!

    Good luck on your 5K!
